Meet Jill and Lori, the wedding officiants and premarital mentors behind Jillori in Temecula, California

We're best friends who still get mushy at every wedding.

Before you trust us with your marriage, you should know a little about ours.

How we went from giving advice to officiating weddings

For a couple of years, we kept having the same conversation. We've built a marriage we love, so what do we build together next? We wanted a shared purpose for this stage of our marriage, something about more than just the two of us, and a way to give back as retirement gets closer.

Turns out we'd already started building it. People have been coming to us for advice for years. Friends, family, friends of friends, all asking some version of "how do you two make this work?" Lately a lot of it is about parenting too, everything from the newborn days to the teenage years.

Lauren and Sage were two of those people. We've been in Lauren's corner for a long time, and we got to watch them grow together as a couple. They got engaged, moved across the country, and we stayed close through all of it. Then they asked Jill to marry them.

We had the best time. It was one of the most fun, joyful things we've ever done together, and that's really where the idea came from. It started as a "what if." Now it's a business, a podcast called Love in Full Color, and a mission we care a lot about: helping couples like us, at any age, navigate and celebrate their love.

If this is where you are right now

We know what it feels like to be making one of the hardest, most life-changing decisions you'll ever make. We've made it ourselves. And if you're in the middle of it, the thoughts running through your head might sound something like this:

I don't know if I'm ready for marriage.

I don't want to get divorced.

I want to make the right decision.

I don't want to lose myself.

Maybe you're twenty-five and not engaged yet. Maybe you're fifty-five and doing this a second time. If you've said any of these, even just to yourself, you're exactly who we love sitting down with.

We don't have it all figured out. We still work at our own marriage every day. What we can do is listen closely and tell you honestly what's worked for us, so you walk into your marriage feeling a lot more sure of it.

Tell us about the two of you

Who does what around here

Jill of Jillori, wedding officiant and ceremony designer

Jill

I'm the one who keeps up with everybody. If you call, I'm dropping what I'm doing to pick up, and if I haven't heard from you in a while, expect me to check in. Put me in a room full of people and I'll make my way around to all of them, usually getting a few laughs along the way. I know people from every walk of life, and I love that. I'm also honest and direct. Ask me what I think and I'll tell you.

Lori of Jillori, premarital mentor and certified coach

Lori

I can seem a little serious when you first meet me. Give it a minute. I'm usually the first one up for an adventure. When we spend time with people, I'm the one listening closely, and I'm open with what I share back, maybe to a fault. I'm reflective by nature, and helping people think through the big decisions is what I do best. I'll also fight for inclusivity, no matter who's in the room.

Together? We're literally best friends, and somehow we're usually the entertainment.

Ten years of marriage has taught us nothing about the thermostat

Temperature

Lori: always hot, ceiling fan on full blast.

Jill: winter pajamas under two blankets, in July.

Amazon

Lori: hits the buy button in five seconds flat.

Jill: "Wait, don't get it yet." Three days of research later...

Parking

Lori: just park, we'll walk.

Jill: circles the lot twice for the closest spot.

Home projects

Lori: self-appointed project manager.

Jill: the actual contractor doing the actual work.

The one thing we always agree on? Weddings. We both get mushy every single time.

What you can count on from us

Inclusivity

Prejudice doesn't get a seat at our table, and we'll never shrink your love to make a room more comfortable. If someone in your family is still coming around, we'll help you make room for them with care.

Authenticity

Your ceremony gets written from scratch around who you are as a couple. And you never have to put on the picture-perfect couple act with us.

Love

We practice it every day, in how we talk to each other, the time we give each other, and the way we open our home to the people we care about. That's the kind of love we want to help you build.

Relationships

We don't disappear after the wedding. Jill is the one who checks in, so expect to hear from us after the honeymoon, and again on your first anniversary.

Fun

Planning a marriage is serious work, and it can still be a lot of fun. We got pulled into the dancing at our own wedding in Bora Bora, and we'd happily do it at yours.

Transparency

We'll tell you what we honestly think, even when it's not what you were hoping to hear. And we'll be just as honest about our own hard parts.

They nailed the perfect balance of humor, seriousness, and sweet moments. Jill had all of our guests laughing and crying throughout the ceremony. In the end, the part of our wedding my wife and I look back on the most is the ceremony.

Love in Full Color, the podcast from Jill and Lori of Jillori

Want to get to know us a little better?

Pull up a chair on our podcast, Love in Full Color. Sometimes it's just the two of us. Other times we're talking with engaged and married couples about building a life across race, culture, and identity, plus all the everyday stuff that comes with being married. And when you're ready to talk about your own wedding, we'd love to hear your story.
